Beauty is Truth, Truth Beauty

Of course I would choose the 30° day to do my second ever Lookbook post! Today's look draws inspiration from European/Amsterdam-inspired style. I've always been a huge fan of stores such as Scotch and Soda, whose styles are wonderfully laid back, yet maintain an aura of refinement.

I got this cute suspender shirt from Scotch and Soda as a gift last Christmas, and unfortunately, forgot about it, resulting in it hanging in my closet collecting dust. I was cleaning out my closet this morning, and thought I would compose an outfit based around this delectably playful shirt. I paired it with a pair of tan shorts from Topman, and a pair of tan oxfords with brown laces from Zara. Accessory wise, I thought my favorite slim watch from Casio would be a perfect touch of refinement. I also wore my crown design ring, from local store Oak and Fort, for that extra something.

The aforementioned sweltering heat of Edmonton summer turned my hair (which I spent like 20 minutes styling)  from a voluminous quiff to a messy side-swept hairstyle. Luckily, it didn't look horrendous, and actually kind of suited the outfit I put together. On a positive note, I am getting better and better at using my tripod to take photos. I'm getting a better sense of where to stand, and the angles and timing required to get a clear and visually appealing shot. It only goes uphill from here! ^_^

Summer Solstice

Let me first start off by saying that I'm ecstatic that I have finally gotten around to starting this blog! I've wanted to start a Lookbook/fashion blog for the longest time, and procrastination, my closest friend, has always prevented me from doing so. However, I was feeling spontaneous and decided to take my tripod outside and take some pictures for my first Lookbook look! Oh, how fun and exciting it was to finally commence something I have longed to do for ages~

My first look is inspired by the nautical trend that is oh so popular at the moment. I admit, I am a sucker for striped shirts and light breathable fabrics like linen, so I paired a super comfortable striped linen shirt from Zara with a pair of navy linen shorts, also from Zara! I then decided to add to the look with one of my favorite blazers ever (from Zara of course), made of a lovely piqué fabric. I decided to complete the outfit with a pair of navy loafers, instilling a fancy touch to an otherwise casual outfit.

The day I decided to take the pictures just happened to also be summer solstice, so I could not resist taking some pictures of the scenery so characteristic of a beautiful summer day. Summer solstice marks not only the anticipated arrival of a beautiful summer, but also of my Lookbook journey~
